Gradient iPhone wallpapers

Mesh gradients, silk folds, conic sweeps and grainy duotones. Forty-eight of them, four pages.

A gradient looks simple and is easy to get wrong. Blend two colours the naive way and the middle turns muddy; save it as an 8-bit file and visible steps appear across the sky. These are blended in linear light, which keeps the middle tones bright, and carry a very fine grain that breaks up the steps. You will not see the grain at arm's length; you would see the banding without it.

Mesh gradients place five colour fields at random positions and let them bleed into each other. Silk gradients fold a noise field so the colours ripple like satin. Conic gradients sweep around a centre placed off-screen, so you only see an arc of the wheel. Grain gradients use three colours and a heavier texture, like printed paper.
