Wallpapers for older iPhones, from the 2007 original to the 16
From 320 × 480 in 2007 to 1320 × 2868 on the 16 Pro Max: every older iPhone, and what to expect on each.
iPhoneAtmo began in 2007 with wallpapers of 320 × 480 pixels, the screen of the first iPhone. The table on the size page lists every model since. In short:
- iPhone X to 16 (2017-2024): the same 19.5:9 shape as today. The 1320 × 2868 file scales down to any of them without losing anything.
- iPhone 6 to 8 and the SE (2014-2022): 16:9, a little wider. A modern wallpaper loses a sliver at the top and bottom.
- iPhone 2007 to 4s: 3:2, much wider. The Get it button crops the centre; patterns and gradients survive best.
The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max share their resolutions with the 17 Pro models: 1206 × 2622 and 1320 × 2868. For those, take the files offered on each wallpaper's page as they are. And for anyone thinking of upgrading from an older phone, last year's Pro, now cheaper is often the sensible move.
